Sashiko is a Japanese textile folk-art that had its origins in the Edo period in Japan, and has evolved over centuries from a frugal necessity into the decorative art so cherished today. The word Sashiko literally means ’little stabs’, a reference to the simple running stitch employed in repeating or interlocking patterns. This shines through in the Studio Coat with heavy gauge yarns woven together creating a beautifully textured fabric that is immediately eye catching and very comfortable. It's the perfect outerwear for when you don't know what the day will bring. There is something effortless about the style, functionality and the draw of grabbing it before you head out the door. That is the Studio Coat. Made in Seattle.
